Gamay Noir '15 - 'Intensely juicy red wine, redolent of summer puddings, but with a savoury graphite edge, too. Enjoy it slightly chilled. When it's this good you wonder why there isn't more!'

Gamay Noir '15 - 'They're doing this wine right, and pretty much at the right price. Not sure why we don't see more Gamay planted. Cherry and raspberry, spicy and floral, white pepper and some smokiness. Light to medium bodied, juicy raspberry, spicy, crunchy and great to drink, with a light dusting of raspy tannin, and sweet fruited and peppery finish. So nice to drink. Spot on.' 91 points

'Bright, moderately deep, purple-hued red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is fresh with tight and intensely concentrated aromatic fruit aromas of red and black cherry fruit lifted by whole berry fermentation confectionary and red floral notes. The mouthfeel is rounded and smooth and flows with slipperiness. This is supple and juicy, with refreshing acidity that carries the wine to a esters lifted finish.' ★★★★

Gamay Noir '13- 'Moderately deep purple-red colour. Bright flavours of aromatic red fruits and florals are lifted by confectionary notes. The fruit depth and concentration is excellent ... the exuberant and sweet juiciness is beginning to give way to a dry line on the finish.' 18/20 ★★★★
Raymond Chan, Raymond Chan Wine Review - Te Mata Estate Showcase Summary, 2014
Featuring: Gamay Noir 2013
-
Gamay Noir '13- 'Fruit from the ‘Woodthorpe Terraces’ vineyard, 66% undergoing carbonic maceration and 34% traditionally fermented, to 12.5%, the wine aged 3 months in seasoned French oak barrels. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with some purple hues. This has a very fresh, bright and lifted nose of raspberry fruit with lifted confectionary carbonic maceration aromatics. Florals and bubblegum esters are underlined by a cool steeliness. Dry and medium-light bodied, fresh, juicy raspberry jam, florals and lollyish flavours are lifted by esters on palate. A cool, herbal note is present, and the acidity is a feature of the mouthfeel, resulting in a soft liveliness. This has depth and a core, the extraction modest, but contributing to the vinous presence, which leads to a moderately long finish with raspberries and herbal notes. This is a soft, but fresh-fruited light red in a gentle Beaujolais style.'

'The only problem with this wine is that’s so drinkable, its downright dangerous! It has wonderful macerated ‘fruits of the forest’ aromas, very fresh and varietal, which carry through to the vibrant, fruity palate balanced by a soft dry finish.' Recommended
