Deep, dark magenta, Estate Vineyards Syrah ’19 has an incredibly inviting fragrance of raspberry syrup, black cherry, plum and anise. Rich ripe fruit jumps out on the palate; a black-forest banquet of boysenberry, turkish delight, lavender and nutmeg, with dark cocoa on the finish. The bright modern fruit expression of Estate Vineyards Syrah ’19 is balanced by savoury spice and supple ripe tannin. Fantastic drink-now wine, super digestible.

The individual parcels of syrah from each plot were destemmed for fermentation and remained on skins for extended maceration before pressing. It was then run off to a mixture of new and seasoned French oak barrels for five months’ maturation, during which time it was regularly topped and racked. The wine received a traditional egg white fining before bottling.
Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate's own vineyards, the estate vineyard wines represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage, and Hawke's Bay origin.
Te Mata Estate - 'Te Mata justly lays claim to being the oldest commercial winery in New Zealand. They also produce two of the nation’s iconic wines, the Coleraine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc that exhibits the best characteristics of a stylish Bordeaux with ample New World power and exuberance, and the rich and elegant Elston Chardonnay. The intense and structured Te Mata Bullnose Syrah is a personal favourite, as is their light and refreshing Gamay Noir. 'Shine, John H. Isacs, Shanghai, September 2020 All Reviews
