Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2004 is a wonderful example of the quality yielded by the Hawkes Bay 2004 vintage. Ripe chardonnay flavours of pineapple, stonefruit and citrus combine with barrel fermentation characters to produce an elegant and complex wine. Whole cluster pressing gave fine, clear juice that was cold settled prior to barrel and tank fermentation. The resulting wine underwent malolactic fermentation and barrel maturation, before blending and bottling in October.
Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2004 is a single vineyard wine, produced entirely from low-cropped, Mendoza clone chardonnay. These grapes were harvested from the terraces of Te Mata Estate’s Woodthorpe vineyard between the 15th and 26th March 2004.
Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards, the estate vineyards wines are blended to represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage, and Hawke’s Bay origin.
