Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2003 features the ripe fruit flavours and fine acidity of quality Hawke Bay chardonnay combined with the richness and complexity of barrel fermentation. Whole cluster pressing produced fine, clear juice that was cold settled prior to barrel and tank fermentation. The resulting wine underwent malolactic fermentation and barrel maturation before blending and bottling in mid November.
Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2003 is a single vineyard wine from Te Mata’s spectactular Woodthorpe vineyard. It is made entirely from low cropped Mendoza clone chardonnay that was hand harvested between the 10th to the 27th March 2003.
Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards, the estate vineyards wines are blended to represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage, and Hawke’s Bay origin.
