TASTING NOTES 1997

Bullnose Syrah 1997 has a deep ruby colour, an aroma of raspberries, plums and cedar and a smoky, elegant palate with length and a soft tannin finish.

This wine has a development potential in bottle of 4-6 years from harvest.

It is a wonderful accompaniment to red meat, cheese and Italian food, having a lifted aroma, and soft palate that is most beguiling.

Total acidity as tartaric: 5.7g/l
Alcohol: 13.2%
Residual sugar: Dry

WINEMAKING

Following destemming and crushing a plunged fermentation was undertaken to the grapes, followed by maceration on the skins.

At pressing the wine was run to a mixture of new and older barriques for a further 15 months maturation, during which time the wine was topped, racked and egg white fined. It was bottled, unfiltered, in September 1998.

VINEYARDS

Bullnose Syrah 1997 was hand harvested on the 11th and 12th April.

ORIGIN

Michael Morris and Peter Cowley, vineyard partners and old car enthusiasts, named this wine after the pre-1928 Morris Cowley car, nicknamed Bullnose due to its distinctive radiator. The bull emblem of the label is drawn from the Bullnose car’s radiator crest.
