Bullnose 2015 Reviews

'Deep purple/red colour with complex spice aromas. The palate is powerful, deep and very long-lasting, with ample soft supple tannins which persist. Superb richness, flesh and fruit sweetness balanced by great structure. Very impressive.' 97 Points ★★★★★

'Velvety texture and beautifully woven silk tanning... The wine combines grace and power, as well as fruit purity and savoury complexity.' 96 Points ★★★★★

Bullnose '15 - ' Inky hued, this spicy, earthy Syrah oozes regional characters like cassis, graphite, mint, cracked pepper, black olive and dark chocolate. The palate is lighter than the nose suggests, although there’s still plenty of power here, with muscular, sinewy tannins gripping tight around plush berry fruit. One for the cellar. Drink 2020–2029 and likely beyond.' 91 Points

Bullnose '15 - 'The 2016 Bullnose Syrah has long been one of my favorite wines from Te Mata. This is laden with wild strawberry, raspberry preserve and blueberry on the nose, and quite glycerol in style - not glossy per se but certainly with enough opulence to keep you coming back. The palate is smooth on the entry and delivers plenty of ripe red cherry, cassis and blueberry notes: hints of violet emerge in the glass. It is certainly well balances and seductive, cleverly avoiding any over ripeness or alcoholic warmth on the finish. "Yummy" is not the most technical term in the vinous lexicon, yet it encapsulates this wine better than any other word.' 91 points

Bullnose '15 - 'Wonderfully fragrant, medium-bodied wine. It boasts hints of violets, cracked pepper and licorice strewn over a base of berry fruit.'

'...It is without doubt the greatest Bullnose thus far produced...' 19/20 points ★★★★★

'My benchmark. Te Mata Estate is the standard by which every other wine producer could be judged. The full range of styles has always been impeccable.'

'A wonderfully fragrant, medium-bodied wine. Always of the region's most aromatic syrahs.'

'If there was Kiwi wine aristocracy, Te Mata would be it. Nestled in the foothills of the Te Mata heritage zone, they make some of the best wines in the country. Independent, family-owned, exclusively Hawke's Bay, and committed to making premium wine on site.'

Cuisine Wine, 2017 Featuring: Syrah 2015, Sauvignon Blanc 2017, Merlot/Cabernets 2015, Gamay Noir 2017, Elston 2016, Coleraine 2015, Chardonnay 2016, Cape Crest 2016, Bullnose 2015, Awatea 2015

Bullnose '15 - 'A very expressive bouquet, floral, almost sweet flowers, earthy and mineral dry stones then dark cherry and black currant, quite peppery, fresh and varietal. Firm and dry on the palate, young. No mistaking the line of acidity and firm yet ripe tannins and structure. Quite a lengthy finish, youthful, a keeper till 2028.' 94 Points
