Tasting Notes 2001
Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2001 has a mid golden/green colour, an aroma of ripe nectarines, apples and smoke and a ripe, creamy palate leading to a sustained, crisp finish.
It is a superb accompaniment to seafood, poultry, and friends, as well as being a great glass of cool, dry white wine.
Woodthorpe Chardonnay 2001 will continue to develop in bottle for 2-4 years from harvest.
Total acidity as tartaric: 6.8g/l
Residual sugar: Dry
After whole cluster pressing and cold settling the juice was barrel and tank fermented, then underwent malolactic fermentation prior to blending and bottling in early December.
The Chardonnay grapes for this wine were hand harvested from our impressive Woodthorpe Terraces vineyard, which slopes north to the Tutaekuri River in Hawkes Bay.
Sourced exclusively from Te Mata Estate’s own vineyards, the estate vineyards wines are blended to represent the best qualities of their variety, vintage, and Hawke’s Bay origin.
